  • Year 11 Parents Evening

    Published 12/01/24

    Thursday 25th January 2024, 4pm - 7pm

    Dear Parent /Carer,

We will be holding our Year 11 Parents Evening on Thursday 25th January 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. As students move towards their exams in the summer, it is an important time for teachers to speak to parents about progress made so far. They will discuss any areas for development to support your child working toward their target grades, and to help them plan for their intended destination after Year 11.

The school will be operating both a virtual online system between 4:00 - 5:00pm and a face to face session in the Academy from 5:30 - 7:00pm. The link to make all appointments can be accessed at: https://priesthorpe.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/. Please note the time when booking your appointments. If you would prefer an online appointment then choose a slot between 4.00 - 5.00 pm. All other appointments will be in person in the academy canteen.

The booking system allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers from each subject area. You will also be able to speak with Christine Humberstone, our Careers Advisor, in school between 5.30 and 7pm, about applications to Post-16 colleges and Apprenticeships. No appointment necessary. This is very much advised if applications have not yet been made already.

When you have booked your appointments, you will receive an email confirmation. Each appointment will last for 5 minutes. If you do not have internet access please contact the school at prie-info@coopacademies.co.uk so we can arrange appointments on your behalf.  The following link offers guidance for parents using the parents evening system: How to attend appointments over video call - SchoolCloud Parents' Meetings

We are very much looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress and to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

    Yours sincerely

    Mr BM Button

  • Year 10 Work Experience

    Published 12/01/24

    Dear Parents/Carers,

All students in Year 10 are going to be on work experience from Monday 24th June to Friday 28th June. In this period there will be no classes – each day all students will be at the workplace of their host employer with the exception of students who do not gain a placement. Students in school will participate in activities and workshops relating to the world of work.

Work experience gives students the chance to learn about what type of job they might enjoy, and develop their CV. We know it can be one of the most transformational experiences young people have during their education.

Students (and their families) should source their own work experience placements. The careers guidance will do their best to support finding placements for any students who have been unable to find their own, but because we have limited resources, we expect to only be able to help some students.

We are using Unifrog (www.unifrog.org) to manage the administration of the work experience programme – for example collecting information from the employer about their Risk Assessment and Health & Safety policy, as well as getting agreement from yourselves for the placement to go ahead.

    Some important logistics:

    • Students need to agree the placement with the employer first, and then students will get the ball rolling by adding the placement to their Unifrog account (they’ll find the Placements tool on their Unifrog homepage).

    • The Unifrog system will then email the employer, the parent / guardian, and the school, to collect the necessary information and permissions. For the process to work, it is essential that students add the initial information about the placement accurately.

    Finding out more:

    • Unifrog have created a set of guides about placements which you can find here

    • Within this set of guides, this is the best one to start with (it includes a short animation of how the whole process works).

    • Next we recommend looking at this one, because it includes advice on how to find a placement.

    Next steps:

    • Please read the placement guides on Unifrog, and then start contacting possible hosts for the placement

    • If you have any questions, contact Salma Amini (Careers Administrator) on salma.amini@coopacademies.co.uk

We wish you the best of luck with supporting your child to find a placement. Please make use of Unifrog’s guides to help you.

    Kind regards,

    Mrs R Gupta

  • January Standards

    Published 08/01/24

    Dear Parent/Carer

As we have approached the end of the first term, I would like to thank you for your continued support with maintaining our uniform expectations. With the new year now here I thought it would be timely to reshare our expectations in support of all students arriving back on January 9th looking smart and ‘ready’ to learn.

Uniform is an important part of our academy identity, ethos and values. Wearing our uniform correctly reinforces who we are as a community and helps students to feel pride in their school. It also helps prepare students for life after school where many will have to dress smartly for work.

Our uniform policy is available at the following hyperlink: https://priesthorpe.coopacademies.co.uk/about-us/our-policies/behaviour-for-learning-policy/

    Please see the following guidance below;

The following items are our items with distinctive characteristics:

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe Black Blazer with Academy logo in white.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe Tie – The tie stripe must be in the student’s House colour.

Optional Black V Neck Jumper – This must have the Academy logo.

These can be purchased at Rawcliffe’s Ltd, Bradford or Whittakers Schoolwear, Farsley.

Plain Black Shoes. Trainers are not permitted.

Black Skirt or Black Tailored Trousers Plain

    White Shirt/Blouse

These items can be purchased at many high street retailers.

In addition to the above it is important to note that students are not permitted to have patterns in their hair and wear any jewellery other than studded earrings. Nose studs/rings are not permitted. Nail varnish can be worn but acrylic nails are not permitted.

We are looking forward to welcoming back our students, on January 9th, in full academy uniform. Uniforms will be checked each day as students enter the building. Any students not in full uniform will be expected to borrow what they need from the school uniform shop. To encourage consistently high uniform expectations we will also apply the following sanctions to those students who do not arrive in full uniform,

    1st time - Warning

    2nd time - 60 minute detention

3rd time - 1 Day in Room for Improvement

    4th time - 1 Day Alternative to Exclusion Uniform (Years 7 – 11)

Thank you again for your continued support. If you have any questions or require any further information regarding uniform then please do not hesitate to contact your child's Year Manager.

    Yours faithfully

    Liam King

    Vice Principal

  • Y11 Trial Exam Day 2023

    Published 08/12/23

    Dear Parent/Carer,

I would like to invite you to our Year 11 Trial Exam Results day on Thursday 14th December. We will share results with students at 14.10 or 14.40, depending on their teaching group for period 5. Please see the table towards the end of the letter, to confirm which session your child will attend.

Students have worked incredibly hard over recent weeks in preparing for and completing their first set of Trial Exams. This is a fantastic opportunity to share and celebrate successes and identify any areas in need of improvement.

Parents are invited to attend the 30 minute session with their child. Parents wishing to attend should enter the building via the Lecture Theatre doors which are at the bottom of the ramp which leads up to reception.

On the day, students will come down to the Lecture Theatre to meet with you, they will then collect their results sheet. Following this they will go into the hall for a short talk by either the Principal, Martin Blacoe, or Vice Principal, Louise Pratt.

Students will be allowed to leave school from the main hall at the end of their session, if a parent has attended the event with them. Students will return to class for the remainder of period 5, if a parent or carer has not attended.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 14th December. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. My email address is: ben.button@coopacademies.co.uk

Students will attend the session based on which teacher they have during Period 5 on Thursday December 14th.

    Session 1 14.10 - 14-35

    Session 2 14.40 -15.10
