PSHCE

PSHCE education is a planned, developmental programme of learning through which our students acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future. It prepares students to manage the most critical opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities they will face growing up in such rapidly changing and challenging times. The curriculum is designed to ensure students develop self-awareness, have positive self-esteem and confidence. As part of a whole-school approach, PSHCE education develops the qualities and attributes students need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.

Learning for Life, Values & ‘Ways of Being’

In addition to their PSHCE lessons, students participate in two Learning for Life days which underpin the PSHCE programmes of study.  PSHCE encompasses the Co-op values and Ways of Being and enables students to make valuable contributions to school initiatives and the community.

RSHE

The Department for Education (DfE) have made Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education compulsory for all secondary pupils from September 2020. We have welcomed this change of status by embedding the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study for key stages 1-5 (which is signposted by the DfE) into our curriculum; this has enabled our school to build on our existing curriculum and continue to extend beyond the new requirements set out in the statutory guidance.
