This year Co-op Academies are running a Young Musician of the year contest across all primary and secondary academies in Manchester, West Yorkshire and Stoke. From nearly 300 applicants, we were delighted that 3 of our 5 entries went through to the Semi Finals, joining just 40 acts that were shortlisted across all regions. Our students were invited to perform for a public audience at The Wardrobe in Leeds, a venue that has featured the likes of Amy Winehouse, The Gossip and Lewis Capaldi. Here they were judged by a panel of expert musicians who will decide, once all the heats are completed, who will go into the Grand Final in April.

We could not be more proud of our entries, Rosa (Y9), Isaac (Y11) and our Rock Band (Rosa, Tayla, Reuben, Jimi and Grace) for all their hard work and professionalism in approaching this challenge. Fingers crossed for the finals if they are successful in getting through to the next round!
