Year 9 Meet Your Coach and Teacher (MYCAT) Day – Wednesday 25th February

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to invite you to the Academy on Wednesday 25th February for the Year 9 "Meet Your Coach and Teacher" day (MYCAT). As this is Year 9, this event also marks the official start of the GCSE Options process.

The Purpose of MYCAT During the event, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s coach and subject teachers to discuss their academic progress and areas for development. The coaching conversation will be particularly important, as it will cover your child’s plans and potential subject choices for next year.

Additional Information Available:

  • Year 9 Options Presentation: A talk covering key information on how to support your child through the Options process.

  • Subject Stalls: Where you can speak to departments about specific GCSE and BTEC choices.

  • Post-16 and Careers: Representatives from various Post-16 providers and careers staff will be available to offer guidance.

  • Family Support: Information on support services available to families from local community groups.

  • Uniform and Equipment Shop: Open for any essential purchases.

  • Lunch: Available for students from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

  • Appointments: Held from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

  • Information Talks: There will be two scheduled talks during the event providing key support details for families.

Booking Appointments Appointments can be booked via the Arbor Parent Portal, which will open this Friday. We strongly encourage you to book your coaching appointment first, as this provides the best overview of your child’s overall progress before meeting individual subject teachers.

If you encounter any issues with the booking system, please contact the main office for assistance.

We look forward to seeing you on the 25th February.
