GCSE Exams
Dear Parent/Carer,
GCSE exams start on Friday 9th May. Some students have already sat their Speaking Exams for French and Spanish. At this critical point in the year I thought it would be useful to clarify a few key points.
-
Exams are scheduled to run until Wednesday 18th June 2025. During this time students are expected to attend school every day.
-
When students are not in exams they will attend their timetabled lessons where they will receive support from subject teachers.
-
When students have finished all their exams in that subject they will be given supervised revision time in lessons for other subjects
-
All students should check their exam timetable ( A copy can be found here) and make sure they are on time for every booster session
-
Students should attend all boosters with all of the correct equipment for that exam, having stored coats, bags and any items not permitted in exams (mobile phones, watches etc)
-
Year 11 students will be having the early lunch(Period 4a) during exams so they can attend boosters
How you can help ‘Supercharge’ progress:
-
Provide a quiet, focussed and supportive space for revision
-
Talk with your child about creating a revision timetable
-
Ensure students are getting enough sleep/rest
-
Encourage ‘healthy’ habits - regular bedtimes and wake ups, good food, plenty of water, exercise and ‘down time’
-
Encourage students to switch off phones and other distractions when working
-
Support attendance at intervention sessions
-
Engage with online revision resources and talk through exam specifications
-
Communicate with school about any worries
Above all the most important factor in exam success is attendance at school, please do not take any family holidays and time away from school in the weeks between now and the end of exams and make sure students are on time every day.
