Hot Weather Guidance and Pupil Support

Dear Parents, Carers, and Guardians,

As we prepare for what is forecast to be a very warm week ahead, we want to reassure you that the health, safety, and comfort of our students are our top priorities.

To ensure our pupils can continue to learn comfortably and safely, we are sharing a reminder of our hot weather guidance and the supportive measures we have put in place.

Uniform Adjustments

To help students stay cool, we are implementing temporary changes to our uniform policy for the upcoming week:

  • Blazers and Ties: Students are not required to wear blazers or ties. These can be left at home.

  • Shirts: Top buttons may be undone.

Hydration and Sun Protection

Staying hydrated and protected from the sun is crucial in these temperatures. We kindly ask for your support with the following:

  • Water Bottles: Please ensure your child comes to school with a reusable, filled water bottle. Water stations are available across the school for refills during breaks and lunchtimes.

  • Sunscreen: We highly recommend applying high-factor sunscreen before school. Students may also bring a bottle to reapply themselves throughout the day.

  • Hats: Plain hats or caps may be worn during break and lunch times while outside, but must be removed when entering school buildings.

What We Are Doing in School

Our staff will be actively managing the school environment to keep students safe:

  • Shaded Areas & Indoor Spaces: We will maximize ventilation in classrooms and encourage pupils to stay in shaded or cooler indoor areas during break and lunch periods so students can escape the direct sun.

  • Monitoring Wellbeing: Teachers and staff will be extra vigilant in spotting signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration.

If your child has an underlying medical condition that makes them particularly vulnerable to the heat (such as asthma), please ensure their up-to-date medication or inhaler is in school and that their Year Manager is aware of any specific needs.

Thank you as always for your continued support and cooperation in keeping our school community safe and comfortable.

Warm regards,

Louise Pratt
